Cool looking shot from my daughter's soccer practice

This picture turned out kinda cool! Can't see the kids too well but the colours and lighting are nifty.  Took this shot with the Samsung Vibrant.

Blogspot?! That's Pre-Posterous!

Posterous

For a while now I have been using Posterous for blogging but I may just do the unthinkable...[dramatic music]...and switch to Google's Blogger!!

Posterous' blogging service is really quite good and I do love how it propagates content to many different locations.  It certainly works well, and has a more 'grown-up' feel to it that Blogger but there is one crucial component missing...monetization.

I had been trying to figure out how to put Adsense...or any advert script on to my Posterous blog but they have apparently blocked scripts from running.  I could probably crash in ads manually by editing the HTML, but I don't want to have to mess with that!  I love the simplicity of Adsense and would like to just use that.

Anyway, haven't made up my mind for sure, but getting close.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

Maddie on the dock

2010-08-28_10-42-33_975

Kinda sounds like a song title...

Little Maddie was watching the kids swim and wanted to get in there but was none to sure about the water.  She's our little cutie, so i had to post this. :)

Smartphone camera are getting better, but...

...you can't beat a camera for getting the best shot.

I've been enjoying using some of my phones for pictures but I have to remember to bring along my actual camera.  Yesterday I was able to get some nice shots while at the lake (using my phones) but I know some of those pics would have been much better with my Sony camera.

Phones are certainly catching up to low end cameras but cameras still rule...at least for now.

Unboxing videos: Stop the madness!!!

It seems there isn't a product being released these days that doesn't get an unboxing video or twelve.  I have to admit, I am not really a fan.  I understand why they are popular, just don't see the need myself.

The biggest problem with these videos is not the product but the producer.  I think too many reviewers have gotten it into their heads that unboxings are all about dwelling on the box.  That is not the case!!!  Stop it already!!!

I was just watching an unboxing (name withheld, protecting the innocent, blah...) and in the 5 minute long video it took 2.5 minutes before you even SEE the product!!  Such a waste of time.

Unboxings should be about the reviewers reaction to seeing the contents for the first time and in showing potential buyers what they get.  We don't need to have reviewers reading the outside of the box to us and certainly don't need to dwell on the manuals, "...and there is French on this side. Oh look! Spanish and German..."

To the reviewers: keep doing your unboxing videos, but get to the goods quickly!!!!

Sample pics using Motorola Charm

As you can see, the Motorola Charm does ok, but pictures aren't very crisp.  Its a cheap phone, so you can't really expect too much.
