Love Goes On

A shooting star tumbles down,
Its flame cannot endure.
A scarlet rose withers brown
To lose its fragrant lure.
The moon illuminates the night
To vanish at the dawn.
Oh, but love, love goes on.

Fortunes fail and disappear,
Like castles in the sand.
Power spoils and causes fear,
But yields to stronger hands.
Fame lasts for a moment,
Then, in a moment, it is gone.
Oh, but love, love goes on.

Beauty fades, and passion wanes,
And faces show their years.
Death steals a lover's touch away,
But time dries up the tears.
Tunes are soon forgotten,
And singers lose their song,
But love goes on.

A baby Boy, a starlit night,
Kings on bended knee.
Healing hands giving sight,
Then tortured on a tree.
A woman sings, rejoicing,
"He is risen, He is gone!"
Because love, love goes on.
Oh, love goes on.

Actually, I'm just kidding.  Dave and Carol can make even shopping for a plant fun.

We capped it off with yummy ice cream at Tim Hortons, so my tummy is happy. Actually, I had no idea they were doing this whole ice cream thing...I gotta get out more.

Fri, 28 May 2010 08:52:16 -0700 Thoughts on Rogers Download Limits http://darrenhumphries.posterous.com/thoughts-on-rogers-download-limits http://darrenhumphries.posterous.com/thoughts-on-rogers-download-limits Recently, Rogers started enforcing download limits on their home internet services.  For a long time they didn't not really seem to care and were letting people get away with a fair bit of overuse.  But now they are being much more stringent about it and even sending out reminders when you get close to using up your allotment.

The pessimist in my can't help but think this isn't really about network capacity at all.  By this point I am sure Rogers has all the cap they need plus loads of extra.  My thinking is that this is more about keeping Internet TV service competitors at bay.  More companies are offering services for TV, the most recently announced being Google and Apple.  Obviously, any internet provider that also offers TV services would rather you use their own services and are going to do everything they can to keep competition at bay.  By limiting the download amount they affectively are doing just that.

BTW, I am using Rogers as the example simply because they are the service I use.  I'm sure the other providers are doing the same thing.

This past week I was reading about how Twitter's search engine only goes back 6 days. You can use other search engines to find old tweets but I think that's only if you search by topic.

That got me feeling like all those tweets are kind of a waste.  Well, in the greater scheme of thing they certainly are but when you compare that to blogging it almost feels like wasted thoughts.  At least with a blog people can read over your thoughts from as far back as you have recorded them and as far back as they want to bother.

As a result of these incredibly deep insights I'll probably blog some more things now.  Posts may not be too long, but at least they'll be recorded for posterity, whether you like it or not.

I was just taking a look at Blogger.com, which I haven't bothered with in a very long time.  Wow, it is looking verrrrry old.  Google seems to have abandoned it. If I'm not mistaken, there was some announcement about a new theme generator, but I can't find that news now.

Oh well, Posterous is pretty darn nice.  Guess I'll stick with it.
